About Indianapolis Motor Speedway
The Brickyard, named for the original brick surface. 2.5 mile rectangular oval. The Indianapolis 500 has run since 1911, attracting 300,000 spectators on race day. The Yard of Bricks at the start/finish line is the only remaining brick section. A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, and Rick Mears each won the 500 four times. Also hosts NASCARs Brickyard 400 on the oval and F1 on the road course from 2000-2007.
