About Brooklands
The first purpose built motor racing circuit in the world. A vast banked concrete oval west of London opened in 1907. Grand Prix racing and land speed record attempts made it famous. The site became an aircraft factory in 1940 and never reopened. The crumbling banking survives as the birthplace of motorsport.
